On September 28, Kyiv hosted a title fight between Ukrainian boxers: WBC Silver Youth titleholder Nazri Rahimov (14(8KO)-4-0) and Andrii Boryshpolets (10(4KO)-2(1KO)-0) for the vacant WBC Ukraine and Champion of Ukraine in super lightweight titles.
The boxers demonstrated the following weights at the official weigh-in ceremony:
Nazri Rahimov came in at 63.2 kg / 139.3 lbs, and his opponent, Andrii Boryshpolets, at 63.3 kg / 139.6 lbs.
The fight lasted 10 competitive rounds. Nazri, the undoubted favorite of the audience, launched intense attacks from the first rounds, but beating the left-handed Andrii Boryshpolets proved to be not as easy as Rahimov had imagined.
The first 4 rounds were very close, but it was the fifth round when the first blood appeared on Nazri's face, and Andrii started working in a more technical way, thus, leading on the scorecards of the two judges.
In the last rounds, the boxers showed a fierce emotional slugfest that the audiences love so much.
According to the results of the 10-round fight, Andrii Boryshpolets earned his victory by a Majority Decision (MD) of the judges: 93-97, 94-96 and 95-95.
Ukrainian Yaroslav Mykhalushko knocked out his opponent in the 4th round and became the Interim WBC Youth World Welterweight Champion.
Vitalii Stalchenko, a 24-year-old Ukrainian boxer from Dnipro, won the WBC Ukraine and Champion of Ukraine titles in cruiserweight.
