On September 14, in Dnipro city, Ukrainian boxers Vitalii Stalchenko (8(5KO)-0-0) and Oleksii Zhuk (4(2KO)-4-0) fought for the vacant WBC Ukraine and Champion of Ukraine titles in the cruiserweight division.
On the eve of the fight, an official weigh-in ceremony was held, which showed the boxers come into the fight at the following weights: Vitalii Stalchenko stood at 89.8 kg / 198 lbs, and his opponent, Oleksii Zhuk, at 89.1 kg / 196 lbs.
The fight lasted all 10 competitive rounds, demonstrating how the initiative in the ring was alternating constantly between one opponent and the other.
Oleksii Zhuk tried to show character and put up a decent fight against Stalchenko, despite losing on all the judges' scorecards. Vitalii proved to be more agile in this fight, showing good physical condition and perfect boxing technique throughout the battle.
By the results of the 10-round fight, Vitalii Stalchenko won by unanimous decision of the judges: 93-97, 94-98 and 94-96.
Ukrainian Yaroslav Mykhalushko knocked out his opponent in the 4th round and became the Interim WBC Youth World Welterweight Champion.
Andrii Boryshpolets, a 27-year-old Ukrainian boxer from Kyiv, won the WBC Ukraine and Champion of Ukraine titles in the super lightweight division.
