WBC Grand Prix Stage Three: Official Weigh-In

Today, August 12, 2025, in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), the official weigh-in for the quarterfinal participants of the prestigious WBC Grand Prix took place. The winners of this stage will advance to the semifinals, just one step away from the final and the main trophy.

In each weight division, eight athletes remain, and the competition is reaching maximum intensity.

Super Lightweight

In this weight category, Ukraine is represented by Danylo Lozan (14-0, 9 KOs) — one of the most promising young boxers, already ranked in the WBC world ratings. He began his tournament journey with a confident win over Kamronbek Eshmatov (10–1, 7 KOs), fully controlling the pace and space of the fight. He then stopped Canadian Eric Basran (8–1, 3 KOs) with a third-round TKO after a powerful flurry of punches. This success pushed Lozan to the 37th position in the world rankings.

His opponent is Sanatali Toltayev (4-0, 2 KOs) of Kazakhstan, who first stopped Argentina’s German Brochero in the sixth round, then defeated Gerald Into, keeping the fight under control from start to finish.

At the weigh-in, Lozan came in at 64.3 kg (141.8 lbs), while Toltayev weighed 63.9 kg (140.9 lbs).

Middleweight

Ukraine has two representatives in this division. The first is Petro Frolov (12-1, 4 KOs) — a composed and technical middleweight who outworked Claudiu Ienci (10–1, 6 KOs) with constant pressure. He then faced dangerous puncher Saulo Morales Saldívar (15–2–1, 14 KOs), but neutralized his threat with discipline and distance control, earning a unanimous decision victory.

Frolov’s quarterfinal opponent is Dylan Biggs (15-1, 9 KOs) from Australia, who outpointed Hamzah Azim (60–54, 58–55, 58–55) and later defeated Cyril Johnson with sharp mid-range combinations.

At the weigh-in, Frolov registered 73.3 kg (161.6 lbs), while Biggs came in at 73.1 kg (161.0 lbs).

The second Ukrainian in the division is Dmytro Rybalka (5-0-1, 2 KOs). He opened the tournament with a win over Jude Grant (8–1, 2 KOs) and was originally set to face Maksym Molodan in the next round. After bracket adjustments, he instead met Mohammad Issa (10–1, 9 KOs), securing another points victory.

His quarterfinal opponent is Derek Pomerleau (13-0, 10 KOs) from Canada, who first outpointed Ukrainian Liparit Ustyan (59–55, 60–54, 60–54), then earned another unanimous decision in his next bout.

At the weigh-in, Rybalka came in at 74.4 kg (164.0 lbs) — 800 grams over the limit — while Pomerleau weighed 73.7 kg (162.4 lbs).

Heavyweight

Ukraine’s representative in the heaviest division is Tsotne Rogava (12-0, 8 KOs). He began the tournament with a spectacular second-round TKO of Luis Clark (6–1, 3 KOs), then dominated fellow Ukrainian Vitalii Stalchenko, winning by unanimous decision.

His opponent is Ahmed Krnjić (5-0, 4 KOs) from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who first stopped Jordi Valenzuela Santosin the third round, then scored a fifth-round TKO over Davide Brito.

At the weigh-in, Rogava came in at 113.4 kg (250.1 lbs), while Krnjić weighed 121.3 kg (268.7 lbs).

The third stage of the WBC Grand Prix will take place tomorrow, August 13, in Riyadh. The quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinals and move one step closer to the final bout for the tournament’s grand trophy. The event will be broadcast live on DAZN.
