Anton Cherniakov is the New WBC Ukraine Light Heavyweight Champion

On September 5, a bout between Anton Cherniakov and Oleksandr Ivkov took place in Sheptytskyi, Lviv Region. The WBC Ukraine title and the Ukrainian national title at Light Heavyweight (up to 79.4 kg) were at stake.

A day before the bout, on September 4, the boxers took part in the official weigh-in. Anton Cherniakov weighed in at 79.240 kg, while Oleksandr Ivkov registered 79.340 kg. Both fighters made the Light Heavyweight limit.

The bout ended in the sixth round, with Anton Cherniakov securing a victory by technical knockout. Following a series of effective attacks from Cherniakov, the referee stopped the contest, awarding him the stoppage victory.

At the time of the stoppage, Cherniakov was ahead on all three judges’ scorecards: Ihor Kalenchenko scored the bout 48–47, while Viktor Fesechko and Ruslan Myshko both had it 49–46 in Cherniakov’s favor.

With this victory, Anton Cherniakov claimed two titles — the WBC Ukraine belt and the Ukrainian national Light Heavyweight title.

The victory was Cherniakov’s seventh in seven professional bouts and his fourth by stoppage, bringing his professional record to 7-0, 4 KOs. Oleksandr Ivkov’s record now stands at 8-2-1, 6 KOs.
