For the first time in Ukraine: WBC Adaptive Boxing supported veterans and held a master class
On April 2 in Kyiv, a historic event for Ukrainian sports took place — for the first time in Ukraine, the WBC Adaptive Boxing program was introduced, featuring a specialized master class for veterans. The event was held at the new Sparta Box gym at the Palace of Sports, Kyiv.
The program was initiated and developed by former professional boxer and current head of WBC Cares UK — Scott Welch. His initiative is aimed at the physical and psychological rehabilitation of people with disabilities through boxing and adapted training methods.

Alongside Scott Welch, a team of specialists arrived in Ukraine: an adaptive boxing coach, undefeated super lightweight boxer Tiernan Bradley (11-0-1, 6 KOs), as well as Matthew Etherington representing WBC Cares UK.
As part of the event, Ukrainian veterans had a unique opportunity not only to take part in the training process, but also to test specialized equipment. The guests brought adapted wheelchairs designed specifically for boxing training. These provide maximum mobility in the ring, enhanced safety, and increased protection from injuries during sparring sessions and workouts.

The WBC Adaptive Boxing program carries a mission far beyond sports activities. It is aimed at restoring morale, rebuilding confidence, and shaping a new way of life for individuals who have sustained injuries. Through boxing, participants gain not only physical exercise, but also renewed motivation, discipline, and belief in their own abilities.
This master class marked the first step toward the development of adaptive boxing in Ukraine and opened new opportunities for veterans who strive to remain active, strong, and engaged in the sporting community.
