WBC Boxing Grand Prix Finals: Tournament Winners
On December 20 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the final bouts of the WBC Boxing Grand Prix took place — a major international tournament held under the auspices of the World Boxing Council, which became the culmination of a long-term vision aimed at developing a new generation of professional boxers.
The final night concluded months of competition, during which athletes from different continents competed not only for victory in their respective weight divisions, but also for the right to become part of a new chapter in the global WBC project.
Results of the Final Bouts
In the final of the WBC Boxing Grand Prix, champions were crowned in four weight divisions. All final bouts were contested at a high tactical level and concluded by judges’ decisions.
Heavyweight
The tournament champion was Kevin Ramirez (Argentina), who defeated Ahmed Krinjić (Bosnia and Herzegovina)by unanimous decision, demonstrating strong distance control and confident ring management throughout all rounds.
Featherweight
Victory was claimed by Brandon Mejía Mosqueda (Mexico), who overcame Muhamet Kamili (Italy/Albania) in the final, confirming his high technical level and consistency.
Super Lightweight
The champion was Carlos Utría (Colombia), who earned a unanimous decision victory over Mujibillo Tursunov (Uzbekistan) in a competitive and tactically intense bout.
Middleweight
In this division, Dylan Biggs (Australia) celebrated victory after defeating Derek Pomerleau (Canada), showcasing composure, discipline, and confidence in the decisive rounds.
The final stage of the WBC Boxing Grand Prix in Riyadh was also attended by Ukrainian boxer Danylo Lozan. He was present at the tournament in the capacity of a reserve boxer, which confirms his inclusion in the international WBC pool and the level of trust placed in him by the organizers.
The participation of the Ukrainian athlete in such a large-scale international event, even in a reserve role, represents an important stage in his professional development and another step toward future appearances in WBC-sanctioned tournaments.
The main triumph of the final: the “Flame of Hope” trophy.
It was the José Sulaimán Trophy — “Flame of Hope” that became the main victory of the final, embodying the very idea of the tournament and the legacy of the WBC.
The design of the trophy carries deep symbolic meaning. The flame at the top represents passion, the desire to win, and the inner strength of a boxer — qualities without which the path to championship glory is impossible. The ever-burning fire symbolizes perseverance, courage, and the readiness to fight until the very last second.
The circular base of the trophy, designed in the style of Riyadh Season, reflects the dynamic development of modern boxing and its global evolution. The combination of green and gold colors symbolizes hope, growth, and glory — the core values embedded in the philosophy of the World Boxing Council.
The trophy also serves as a tribute to José Sulaimán, the longtime President of the WBC, who more than ten years ago envisioned the creation of a tournament capable of discovering new talents and shaping the future stars of world boxing. It was the Boxing Grand Prix that became the practical realization of this vision.
The WBC Grand Prix project will continue, with the tournament also planned for next year.
